Powerstar Pawan Kalyan has resumed shooting for Hari Hara Veera Mallu, a highly anticipated period drama where he takes on the role of a valiant thief. Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and produced by AM Jyothi Krishna, the film is set against the rich backdrop of the 17th-century Mughal era and is slated for a grand theatrical release next month.
One of the most talked-about aspects of the film is its opulent and authentic costume design. Renowned designer Aishwarya Rajeev, known for her work on Gautamiputra Satakarni, is leading the costume department. Her expertise in historical films has brought a striking level of authenticity and detail to Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
To recreate the visual grandeur of the era, the costume team collaborated with skilled weavers from Telangana, Surat, and Mumbai. Using natural dyes and earthy tones like brown and rustic maroon, they developed custom fabrics that reflect the period’s aesthetic. The process involved extensive research and craftsmanship, with each costume designed, presented to Pawan Kalyan for approval, and finalized after detailed trials.
The scale of the wardrobe effort is staggering. Pawan Kalyan will be seen in 20 distinct outfits throughout the film, predominantly in traditional kurta and dhoti ensembles. Over 1,000 thans (rolls of cotton fabric) were used, and 20 pairs of handmade leather chappals were crafted exclusively by artisan Venkateswara Rao.
Adding to the film’s authenticity and visual richness, the production utilized nearly 500 kilograms of jewelry, including real ornaments, with an estimated value of ₹3 crore. The warrior costume worn by Pawan Kalyan left the entire crew spellbound during its first on-set appearance, highlighting the dedication and grandeur being invested in the film’s visual storytelling.
With such meticulous attention to detail and a massive production scale, Hari Hara Veera Mallu promises to be a visual spectacle and a milestone in Indian period cinema.
