Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari Returns to Theatres in 4K and 3D for 35th Anniversary

Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, one of the most iconic films in the history of Telugu cinema, is set to make a grand return to the silver screen. Directed by legendary filmmaker K. Raghavendra Rao and featuring Megastar Chiranjeevi and the late Sridevi in unforgettable lead roles, this socio-fantasy epic was originally produced by Ashwini Dutt under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner. Now, marking its 35th anniversary, the film is being re-released on May 9 in remastered 4K 2D and 3D formats.

Restoring the film was a monumental challenge for the team. The original film negative had been completely damaged and decomposed, rendering it unusable. In 2018, the search began for an alternate negative, which was eventually located in Vijayawada in 2021. Unfortunately, that print too was in poor condition—cut, damaged, and far from ideal.

Nevertheless, Vyjayanthi Movies pressed on. In collaboration with Prasad Corporation, the team meticulously restored the film frame by frame, a process that required months of dedicated effort. Each frame was scanned and remastered in 8K, then converted to 4K for theatrical presentation. Additionally, Prime Focus was brought on board to create a 3D version, offering a new visual experience for a modern audience.

Thanks to these painstaking efforts, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari is set to captivate audiences once again when it returns to theatres on May 9. Fans and film lovers alike will have the rare opportunity to relive—or discover for the first time—the magic of this timeless classic on the big screen. Here's hoping it receives the same love and celebration it did 35 years ago.
