Vijayawada Court Extends Judicial Remand of Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan in Satya Vardhan Kidnapping Case
The Vijayawada court has extended the judicial remand of former Member of the Legislative Assembly and YSR Congress Party leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan in connection with the Satya Vardhan kidnapping case. The remand for Vamsi, along with the other accused individuals, has been extended until May 13, 2025, following recent court orders.
Vamsi Mohan was arrested on February 13, 2025, and named the prime accused (A1) in the case after M. Satya Vardhan filed a complaint alleging that he was kidnapped, threatened, and extorted. The incident occurred during an attack on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office in Gannavaram in 2023, where Satya Vardhan, a Dalit youth and computer operator, was reportedly kidnapped by Vamsi Mohan and his associates.
The investigation revealed that Satya Vardhan was transported between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam during the kidnapping. Recently, CCTV footage released by Minister Kollu Ravindra has added a political dimension to the case. The footage, dated February 13, shows Vamsi's followers transporting Satya Vardhan to court in a car, becoming a key piece of evidence in the case.
To date, eight individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, including Venkata Sivarama Krishna (A7) and Nimmala Lakshmipathi (A8). Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan remains in remand at the Vijayawada district jail.
