Over 3,000 persons with disabilities performed Yoga at an event organised on the occasion of International Yoga Day on Saturday.
The event saw persons with disabilities from 21 categories, such as visual impairment and hearing impairment, showcasing their skills by performing yoga.
Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar attended the function organised by the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Speaking on the occasion, Virendra Kumar said, India, for centuries, taught peace through the medium of Yoga to the world.
"By imbibing the spirit of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', we have always considered the whole world as one," he said.
Following the UN's declaration of June 21 as International Day of Yoga in 2014 due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga is now becoming a part of a healthy routine not only in India but across the world, he said.
He praised the Persons with Disabilities who participated in the event.
