Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information Technology and Industries, Nara Lokesh, announced an ambitious plan to transform Visakhapatnam into a premier IT hub in South India, promising the creation of five lakh jobs in the sector. He made this announcement during the Yoga Andhra celebrations held in the city, which drew widespread participation and acclaim.

Lokesh expressed his satisfaction over the successful organization of Yoga Andhra, calling it a proud moment for the people of Andhra Pradesh. He noted that the event resulted in the setting of two Guinness World Records and was designed as a symbolic tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The enthusiastic participation of the public made this event a grand success,” he said, adding that the program had boosted public awareness and unity across the state.

He also shared that Prime Minister Modi personally congratulated him on the success of Yoga Andhra, a moment he described as both humbling and inspiring. “I take the Prime Minister’s words as a responsibility and a motivation to work even harder for the people of Andhra Pradesh,” he added.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to balanced regional development, Lokesh reiterated the policy of decentralized growth, stating, “We are committed to ensuring that every region in the state sees equal progress. Visakhapatnam will be the spearhead of our IT revolution.”

To attract major companies and generate employment, Lokesh revealed that the government had successfully offered land to IT giants like TCS and Cognizant at a nominal cost of 99 paise per acre. He emphasized that infrastructure, connectivity, and investor-friendly policies would be key enablers in achieving the state’s IT employment goals.

He concluded by stressing the importance of collaboration between the public, the government, and the private sector. “The Yoga Andhra initiative has shown us what’s possible when all stakeholders come together. With continued cooperation, Andhra Pradesh is poised to become a model state for development, innovation, and youth empowerment,” Lokesh said.
