Telangana Jagruti president and BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha reiterated her commitment to securing 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) across education, employment, and political representation. Speaking at a round table conference in Medak on Tuesday, held as part of the Kamareddy Declaration movement, Kavitha emphasized that the platform was about human rights, not politics.

Addressing the gathering, Kavitha urged the BC community to remain vigilant and united in their demand for rightful representation. “We will not stop until the promise made by AICC leader Rahul Gandhi during the elections is fulfilled,” she declared.

Kavitha appealed to the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government in Telangana to introduce separate reservation bills for education, jobs, and politics. She criticized Congress leaders for distancing themselves from responsibility by stating they have no role in forwarding the BC reservation bill to the Centre.

Targeting BJP MP Raghunandan Rao, she questioned, “Has he ever spoken to Prime Minister Modi even once about the BC bill?” She asserted that once the BC reservation bill is passed, it will unlock access to jobs, political opportunities, and targeted funding.

The BRS MLC also dismissed the sincerity of the ongoing caste census initiated by the Congress government, calling it inadequate and lacking clarity. She demanded that the state government exert pressure on the Centre to implement the BC bill at the national level.

In a significant announcement, Kavitha revealed plans to launch a Rail Roko protest on July 17 as part of a broader agitation to press both the state and central governments to act on the BC bill. She warned that it would be unacceptable for the state government to conduct local body elections without first resolving the issue of 42% reservation for BCs.

“If elections are held without proper BC reservations, we will resist them,” she warned. “If we all come together and fight, opportunities and leadership roles will come to the feet of BC children.”

Kavitha’s address signals a renewed push by the BRS to mobilize support around BC rights, particularly as Telangana’s political climate continues to evolve post-elections.
