Scores of centres complement main Yoga Day venue at RK Beach in Vizag

The TDP-led NDA government has injected yoga fervour across the state to commemorate the International Yoga Day on Saturday here, with a 26-km beach stretch, school and college buildings and others across the state playing host to the mega event that saw Prime Minister Narendra Modi's participation.

Modi addressed the volunteers and performed Yoga on the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, with Governor S Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and others joining him.

The RK Beach venue will be the beginning of a 26-km-long corridor, stretching up to Bhogapuram from Vizag, where arrangements were in place for more than three lakh people to perform yoga simultaneously. By 5.45 am, 1.5 lakh Yoga enthusiasts had turned up.

The main venue will stretch from Kalimata Temple to Park Hotel Junction.

Scores of schools, colleges, government buildings and other facilities hosted yoga activities across the state.

Off shore, Yoga was performed aboard Naval warships anchored off Vizag.

Among the records could be the organisation of yoga sessions at more than one lakh centres across the southern state, which will complement the main venue at RK Beach here.

As many as two crore people are expected to participate in yoga sessions in these one lakh plus centres.
