Y. S. Sharmila, the President of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, is taking significant steps to restore the party's former glory and strengthen its grassroots presence. She plans to embark on an extensive statewide tour across all districts of Andhra Pradesh, with the dual objectives of energizing the party cadre and directly engaging with the public to understand their concerns.
According to an official announcement from the Andhra Pradesh Congress Party headquarters, the tour will commence on June 9 in Chittoor district. Sharmila will subsequently visit every district in the state, concluding the tour on June 30 in Machilipatnam, located in Krishna district. A public meeting will be held at the conclusion of the tour, which is expected to see attendance from senior party leaders. This 22-day journey will include exclusive meetings with party leaders and workers in each district. Additionally, Sharmila will interact with citizens to listen to their issues and explain the relevance of the Congress Party.
Party sources have stated that the tour is guided by several strategic objectives. These include revitalizing the party's grassroots cadre, understanding public issues directly, effectively communicating the party's programs to the community, and injecting fresh energy into the organization. They also noted that this tour continues Sharmila's prior Praja Prasthanam Yatra, expressing hope that it will significantly contribute to the party's revival in the state.
Sharmila has reportedly developed a comprehensive strategy to ensure the tour goes beyond formal meetings. She aims to strengthen the party at the village level by coordinating efforts with district leaders and focusing on local issues. Special attention is also being given to attracting a large number of youth to the Congress Party. Party members believe that this tour will help regain the Congress Party's former strength in Andhra Pradesh.
