In a generous gesture, Nita Ambani, wife of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, has donated ₹1 crore to the renowned Balkampet Yellamma Temple. The temple’s Executive Officer, Mahender Goud, shared that the amount has been deposited as a fixed deposit in a bank, and the interest earned from it will be used to fund a daily anna prasadam (food distribution) program for devotees.
The EO revealed that the donation follows a recent visit to the temple by Nita Ambani’s mother, Purnima Dalal, and sister, Mamata Dalal. They had offered special prayers ahead of the IPL match held in Hyderabad on April 23 this year. During that visit, temple officials had sought support for temple development, to which Nita Ambani responded positively.
The donation was formally made on June 13, and the amount has since been credited to the temple’s account. EO Mahender Goud also noted that Nita Ambani has been a devotee of Renuka Yellamma and has visited the Balkampet shrine regularly since 2012.
Preparations are currently underway to celebrate the upcoming celestial wedding (Kalyanam) of the goddess in a grand manner, he added.
