A shocking incident of vigilante violence has come to light in Narayanapuram, under Kuppam Municipality, where a woman was tied to a tree and assaulted over a loan dispute. The area falls within the Kuppam constituency, represented by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who has since directed officials to take strict action against the accused.

According to police, the victim, Sirisha, is the wife of Thimmarayappa, who had taken a loan of Rs 80,000 three years ago from a man named Munikannappa. Unable to repay the debt, Thimmarayappa left the village, while Sirisha moved to her parental home in Kenchanaballa village, Shantipuram mandal, where she works as a daily-wage labourer and looks after her son.

Sirisha recently returned to Narayanapuram to collect her son’s Transfer Certificate (TC) from school. Upon learning of her presence, Munikannappa, along with his wife, son, and daughter-in-law, confronted her, demanding repayment of the loan. In a disturbing escalation, they tied her to a tree and beat her in public.

Locals attempted to record the assault on video, but the incident came to the attention of the police, who arrived at the scene, rescued the woman, and registered a case based on her complaint. Munikannappa has since been arrested and charged under multiple sections of the law.

Reacting strongly, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu spoke with the district superintendent of police, who briefed him on the action taken. The CM ordered that strict measures be enforced not only against the perpetrator but also to prevent such incidents in the future. He directed officials to support the victim's family and ensure her safety and well-being.
