Pooja Hegde Opens Up About Career and Biopic Aspirations

Pooja Hegde, a prominent name in the Telugu film industry, rose to stardom after her initial struggle with her debut Oka Laila Kosam. Though the film didn’t do well, her subsequent roles earned her widespread love, cementing her place in Telugu cinema. However, after stepping away from Guntur Kaaram, Pooja has not signed any new Telugu projects. Currently, she’s promoting her upcoming film Retro, where she shared insights about her career.

Having starred in numerous successful films alongside big stars, Pooja has earned a special spot in the hearts of Telugu audiences. When asked about the current trend of biopics, she revealed her interest in playing iconic roles, particularly that of legendary actress Sridevi. “I’ve already danced to her song Elluvachi Godaramma, and I would love to act in her biopic,” she said.

Pooja also expressed her excitement for biopics, particularly those focusing on unsung heroes. “I’ve never been part of a biopic before, but the idea of portraying unsung heroes excites me. I’d also love to be in sports dramas,” she shared.

While she has yet to sign a new Telugu film, Pooja confirmed she’s working on one soon, a love story she’s excited about but plans to announce at the right time. “I have high hopes for this project,” she said.

In gratitude, Pooja thanked the Telugu audiences for their unwavering support. “If audiences are paying to watch me on screen, I take it as a compliment. I’m grateful to the Telugu people; they will always have a place in my heart.”

Pooja is currently seen romancing Suriya in Retro, which releases on May 1st under Sithara Entertainments.
