The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued a warning to residents living along the banks of the Krishna river following the collapse of a gate at the Tungabhadra dam in Karnataka.
The APSDMA’s managing director, R Kurmanadh, stated that due to the snapping of a chain link, gate number 19 was washed away by the floodwaters in Hospet on Saturday night.
Approximately 35,000 cusecs of floodwaters have flowed, and a total of 48,000 cusecs will be discharged downstream. Residents in Kurnool district’s Kosiri, Mantralayam, Nandavaram, and Kouthalam are advised to be cautious, according to reports.
The managing director further advised Krishna riverbank residents to avoid crossing canals and streams.
