Both the TMC and the BJP are optimistic after the high turnout of 77% in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in three constituencies in northern West Bengal. The TMC is confident it will win despite alleged BJP “terrorising” of its activists, while the BJP says people ignored intimidation and threats of TMC leaders. The TMC claims that women’s votes will not be misled by the PM’s propaganda, while the BJP says that TMC’s strong-arm tactics have been countered by ordinary people.
