Sensation in Phone Tapping Case: YS Sharmila’s Calls Recorded, Info Relayed to ‘Anna’

Explosive revelations continue to emerge in the Telangana phone tapping scandal. The SIT, which is investigating the case, has already identified that several public representatives and celebrities were under illegal surveillance. Now, in a sensational development, it has come to light that APCC chief and Congress leader YS Sharmila was also a target.

Sources reveal that Sharmila’s mobile phones were secretly tapped during the previous YSRCP regime. Shockingly, code language was reportedly used to refer to her in communications. It is said that the tapped conversations were relayed to her brother, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, referred to as "Anna" (elder brother), keeping him informed about her contacts and conversations.

Reports suggest that not only were Sharmila’s calls monitored, but those she interacted with were also kept under surveillance. A senior police officer allegedly contacted some of her close associates, issuing warnings — a move that made Sharmila suspect her phones were being tapped. She is now believed to possess key information regarding the surveillance.

YS Sharmila is expected to break her silence on the matter during her visit to Visakhapatnam Airport tomorrow (Wednesday).

Meanwhile, the Jubilee Hills police have already recorded the statement of TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud in connection with the case. ZP chairperson Saritha has also alleged that her phone was tapped, and her statement has been documented.

With confirmation that Sharmila’s phones were tapped, the police are likely to issue her a notice and record her statement as a witness. This could unravel more critical details in the high-profile investigation.

It may be recalled that during her earlier political activities in Telangana, Sharmila’s movements were allegedly tracked in advance, resulting in her being detained, blocked, or placed under house arrest. There are also allegations that her private conversations with political leaders were intercepted and possibly relayed to YS Jagan.

All eyes are now on whether the Jubilee Hills police will officially record Sharmila’s statement and how her revelations might shift the course of the investigation.
