The University Grants Commission (UGC) has identified a significant number of fake universities across the country. According to the UGC, there are 21 fake universities, with two of them located in Andhra Pradesh. These include Christ New Testament Deemed University in Guntur and Bible Open University of India in Visakhapatnam.

The UGC has declared these two universities as fake and stated that they have no authority to award degrees, making their certificates invalid. Many have criticized the Higher Education Department for not taking action despite the UGC’s declarations.

In addition, it has been reported that courses are being conducted in the cities of Vijayawada, Guntur, and Visakhapatnam under the names of universities from other states, such as Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and Karnataka. Innocent individuals are being misled with promises of obtaining degree certificates in a single sitting.

Unaware of the fraudulent nature of these universities, many students enroll in these institutions, only to find out later that their certificates hold no validity. As a result, they have wasted time and money on their education. Consequently, education experts are urging the higher education department and council to prioritize addressing these fake universities and take measures to eliminate them.
