The central government has granted Z-category security to Telugu Desam National General Secretary, Nara Lokesh. The Union Home Ministry has issued an order stating that the CRPF will provide security with VIP wing forces. The Security Review Committee had recommended Z-category security for Lokesh after the October 2016 AOB encounter.

However, after the YCP government came to power in the state, Lokesh’s security was reduced to Y category disregarding the recommendations of the Security Review Committee. Lokesh’s security personnel have made 14 requests to the central.state governments and the Governor to provide adequate security. The attacks on Lokesh inspired by YCP during the Yuvagalam Padayatra have been explained along with the Maoist warnings that the Center had received after examining the information from security sources.
