The Rajasthan government has announced that it will provide reservation for Agniveers in the recruitment of jail and forest guards and state police, as stated by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. This announcement was made on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas (July 26) in a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office on Saturday.
The statement highlighted that the Rajasthan government, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has made a provision of reservation in state police, jail guard, and forest guard recruitments for the Agniveers, who are known for their dedication and patriotism in protecting the country’s borders.
The specific percentage of reservation for Agniveers in these services was not disclosed. It was also noted that the Centre, in 2022, launched the Agnipath scheme for the recruitment of youths aged between 17-and-a-half and 21 in the Army, Navy, and the Air Force, primarily on a four-year contractual basis.
Those recruited under the scheme will be referred to as Agniveers. After completing their four-year tenure, 25 percent of the recruits from each batch will be offered regular service.
Furthermore, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs had announced that 10 percent of vacancies for recruitment in the Central Armed Police Forces or the paramilitary forces would be reserved for ex-Agniveers. Additionally, several state governments also made similar announcements for the recruitment of retired Agniveers in their respective police forces.
