Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa Locks a Massive Runtime, Joins the League of Epic Pan-India Films

Vishnu Manchu’s ambitious mythological epic Kannappa is shaping up to be one of the most eagerly awaited Pan-India spectacles in recent times.

Vishnu Manchu’s ambitious mythological epic Kannappa is shaping up to be one of the most eagerly awaited Pan-India spectacles in recent times. The latest buzz is that the film has officially locked a runtime of 3 hours and 10 minutes, setting the stage for an expansive and immersive cinematic experience.

This substantial duration places Kannappa among the recent trend of big-budget Indian blockbusters that have embraced longer narratives — following in the footsteps of films like RRR (3 hr 2 min), Animal (3 hr 21 min), Pushpa (3 hr), Leo, Devara, and Salaar, all of which either touched or crossed the 3-hour mark. The formula has proven successful when supported by emotionally resonant storytelling and high-impact visuals.

With its rich mythological backdrop, top-tier production values, and a power-packed ensemble cast, Kannappa is being touted as a potential game-changer in the genre. The team is reportedly confident that the narrative justifies the extended runtime, promising a visually grand and emotionally charged journey.

The film features an impressive star cast including Mohan Babu, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, Prabhas, Sarathkumar, Kajal Agarwal, and Preity Mukhundhan, adding immense curiosity and buzz across regions. Vishnu Manchu not only plays the titular role but also serves as the film’s scriptwriter, while Mohan Babu produces under the 24 Frames Factory banner.

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa also brings on board Stephen Devassy for music composition and Sheldon Chau as the cinematographer — further elevating expectations for the film’s audio-visual grandeur.

If executed well, Kannappa could very well join the elite list of Pan-India blockbusters that captivated audiences for over 180 minutes — and left a lasting impact.
