In recent years, most Telugu star heroes have leaned heavily into pan-India action films, creating a gap in comedy and family entertainers. However, the massive success of Sankranthiki Vasthunam proved that audiences still crave feel-good, humorous films—and will flock to theatres when the content clicks. Sensing this shift, several star heroes are now returning to their roots with comedy and family dramas.

Chiranjeevi – Anil Ravipudi Collaboration

After his comeback, Chiranjeevi focused mostly on mass action films, avoiding out-and-out entertainers. Now, he’s tapping into one of his biggest strengths—comedy. Teaming up with director Anil Ravipudi, this film features Nayanthara as the female lead and is set for a Sankranthi 2026 release.

Prabhas in The Raja Saab

Having headlined several intense action flicks like Baahubali, Saaho, Salaar, and Kalki, Prabhas is switching lanes with The Raja Saab—a horror-romantic-comedy directed by Maruthi. Slated for release on December 5, 2025, the film stars Nidhhi Agerwal and Malavika Mohanan.

Venkatesh-Trivikram Reunion

Venkatesh, a veteran in family entertainers, is joining hands with Trivikram Srinivas—who penned classics like Nuvvu Naaku Nachav and Mallishwari for him. This much-anticipated project, touted to be a wholesome entertainer, will begin filming later this year.

Ravi Teja Returns to His Roots

Known for high-energy comedy films, Ravi Teja is bouncing back to his signature genre. He has Mass Jathara, a commercial entertainer, and an upcoming project with Kishore Tirumala, expected to be a clean family entertainer. The latter begins shooting on June 16 and is eyeing a Sankranthi 2026 release.
