Minister Lokesh to Launch ₹22,000 Cr Renew Energy Complex in Anantapur on May 16

Amaravati: In a major boost to Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy sector, Minister for IT and Industries Nara Lokesh will lay the foundation stone for the country’s largest integrated renewable energy complex on May 16 (Friday) in Bettapalli, Guntakal constituency, Anantapur district. The project, titled Renew Power Andhra Pradesh Renewable Energy 2025, represents a massive investment of ₹22,000 crore.

The initiative is being led by Renew Power, one of India’s leading green energy companies, marking its return to Andhra Pradesh after six years. The project was finalized following successful discussions between Minister Lokesh and Renew Power Chairman Sumanth Sinha during the World Economic Forum in Davos.

In the first phase, the project will see an investment of ₹7,000 crore to develop 587 MW of solar power, 250 MW of wind energy, and 415 MW of battery energy storage. In subsequent phases, the complex will expand to include a total of 1,800 MW of solar, 1,000 MW of wind, and 2 GWh of battery storage capacity.

Before 2019, Renew Power had already established a footprint of 777 MW in Andhra Pradesh. Now, with Minister Lokesh setting an ambitious target of attracting 72 GW of renewable energy projects over the next five years, this mega complex signals a strong resurgence of green investment in the state.
