In Maharashtra’s Thane district, a case has been filed against six individuals for allegedly illegally transporting cattle. The police stopped two vehicles carrying buffaloes in overcrowded and inhumane conditions in Kalyan on Friday. The drivers of both vehicles did not have permits for transporting cattle and were unable to provide necessary medical certificates for the animals. An FIR has been filed under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 and Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1976 against six individuals, including the drivers, owners of the vehicles, and those who had bought the cattle. The accused are from Mumbai, Ahmednagar, and Uttar Pradesh. Further investigation is ongoing.
