Prime Video has revealed the new trailer for the highly anticipated second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” during the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). The series is based on JRR Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” appendices, focusing on Middle-earth’s Second Age and including younger versions of key characters from the books adapted into the Oscar-winning trilogy by Peter Jackson.
Set thousands of years before the events of the books, the series follows the creation of the original rings of power, which allowed the Dark Lord Sauron to spread evil across Middle-earth. The first season of “The Rings of Power” premiered on Prime Video in September 2022.
The action-packed trailer for season two highlights the return of the legendary villain Sauron, bringing darkness and evil back to Middle-earth, and the creation of more Rings of Power with Sauron’s deceptive and manipulative abilities. In season two, Sauron, cast out by Galadriel, must rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will.
The show features actors Charlie Vickers as Sauron, Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Robert Aramayo as Elrond, Owain Arthur as Prince Durin IV, Ismael Cruz Cordova as Arondir, and Charles Edwards as Celebrimbor. “The Rings of Power” is showrun and executive produced by J.D.
Payne and Patrick McKay, with executive producers Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, and Gennifer Hutchison. Charlotte Brandstrom serves as co-executive producer and director, with producers Kate Hazell and Helen Shang, and co-producers Clare Buxton, Andrew Lee, Glenise Mullins, and Matthew Penry-Davey.
