The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in collaboration with its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners, has initiated the Tiranga Yatra program across Andhra Pradesh. The yatra, organized under the aegis of the BJP’s youth wing (BJYM), was formally launched by the party’s state president, Purandeshwari, in a bid to rekindle the spirit of patriotism among the masses. Speaking on the occasion, Purandeshwari emphasized the significance of the sacrifices made by the leaders of the freedom struggle, attributing the fruits of today’s independence to their relentless efforts.
She underscored the importance of passing on this historical legacy to future generations, ensuring that the story of India’s fight for freedom remains alive in the national consciousness. Highlighting the nationwide nature of the Tiranga Yatra, Purandeshwari mentioned that the initiative is being conducted with active participation from students across the country. She urged citizens to celebrate the occasion in a festive atmosphere, with the national flag unfurled on every household, transcending party lines.
To facilitate the widespread display of the tricolor flag from August 9 to 15, the BJP has set up a dedicated website, harghartiranga.com, where citizens are encouraged to upload selfies with the national flag. The website, which has been operational since 2022, saw an overwhelming response with 6 crore selfies uploaded in 2022 and 10 crore in 2023. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has changed his display picture to the tricolor, leading by example.
