On Monday, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy filed a writ petition in the High Court to request the restoration of his security cover to the level it was at before June 3.
He mentioned that his security cover was reduced to only 59 personnel without any prior notice from the TDP-led government in the state. Reddy expressed concerns about his safety, especially considering the sensitive nature of his position and the current political environment in the state.
He also pointed out that the reduction in security was made within a month after the announcement of the election results, which he believes violates the principles of natural justice.
Despite being in the highest protection category of Z+ security, the number of security personnel guarding him had been drastically reduced, with only two personnel available to guard him at any point in time.
Reddy underscored that after winning the 2019 Assembly polls, he was initially provided with Z+ security, which included 139 personnel of various categories.
