Halting ongoing land re-survey process

The Capital News

The Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet has approved the removal of the photo and name of former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy from land survey stones across the State. The cabinet also decided to put the ongoing land re-survey process on hold. These decisions were taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday. The meeting addressed the issue of survey stones bearing the photo and name of the former Chief Minister, which were installed during Jagan’s tenure. Several ministers highlighted the expenditure of Rs 700 crore by the previous government for these survey stones and advocated for their removal. In response, the cabinet gave the green light to proceed with the removal. Additionally, the cabinet decided to take back the passbooks that featured Jagan’s photo and issue new passbooks with a royal seal. The Revenue Department presented a detailed note on the land re-survey, and the cabinet discussed the various controversies that have arisen from it. Ministers expressed concerns about the impact of the YCP government’s policies on landowners, noting that these policies have caused considerable worry among the public. The decision to halt the land re-survey aims to address and mitigate these concerns, ensuring a more transparent and equitable process moving forward. This move is expected to bring relief to landowners and streamline land management practices in the state
