Vijayawada: June 14: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has appointed Anita Vangalapudi as the Home Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Anita, who represents the Payaka Rao Pet constituency, secured a ministerial post in the current cabinet due to her seniority and the strategic SC caste equations. Anita’s appointment to the crucial home ministry came as a surprise to many.

It is noteworthy that in the previous government, leaders from the same Dalit social group, such as Taneti Vanita and Mekatoti Sucharita, were entrusted with this significant portfolio.

Traditionally, Chandrababu Naidu allocated the Home Ministry to members of the BC and Kapu social groups. Anita Vangalapudi has been a prominent voice within the TDP, particularly during their time in opposition, where she was known for her vocal advocacy and strong presence.

Her unexpected appointment reflects a strategic decision by the Chief Minister to ensure representation and address key social equations within the state’s governance
