Chief Minister Revanth Reddy released the second installment of the farmer loan waiver funds, fulfilling a pre-election promise made by the Congress party. The latest tranche amounts to Rs 6,191 crore, extending loan waivers for amounts ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh.

The CM initiated this phase at the state assembly on Tuesday, where he personally distributed checks to 17 farmers. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy described the day as a “festival” for Telangana farmers, celebrating their financial relief through the loan waiver.

He reiterated the Congress party’s commitment to clearing all farmer loans up to Rs 1.5 lakh, regardless of any obstacles. Revanth Reddy emphasized that the loan waiver aligns with the government’s policy of prioritizing farmers’ welfare and preventing them from falling into financial distress.

He criticized the previous administration’s loan waiver program, stating that it only covered interest payments. The Chief Minister also mentioned that comprehensive details have been gathered from both commercial and agricultural banks regarding the waiver.

He highlighted that the Congress party prioritizes national security and food security, drawing parallels to the historical contributions of Nehru in developing irrigation projects to alleviate farmers’ struggles
