Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya praised Manu Bhaker for winning two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics. He mentioned that her achievement will inspire many young people to take up sports. Manu, at 22 years old, made history by becoming the first Indian athlete to win two medals in a single Olympics.
She won bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event and also teamed up with Sarabjot Singh to win bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. Additionally, she became the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal. Minister Mandaviya congratulated Manu and mentioned that her success will inspire millions of young people in India to pursue sports.
He also shared pictures of his meeting with Manu, her father, and her personal coach. Manu received a warm welcome in India upon her return and is set to participate in the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics as one of India’s flag-bearers.
