Manu Bhaker displayed great composure while Sarabjot Singh played a supportive role as the pair won the bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, making history at the Olympics on Tuesday.
They defeated South Korea 16-10 to secure India’s second medal at the Olympics. This achievement also made Bhaker the first Indian post-independence to win two medals in a single edition of the Games.
She had previously won the bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the same venue.
It’s worth noting that British-Indian athlete Norman Pritchard had won two silver medals in 200m sprint and 200m hurdles at the 1900 Olympics, but that was in the pre-independence era.
