Amaravati: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed Harishkumar Gupta(New DGP of AP) as new Director General of Police (DGP) for the State of Andhra Pradesh. The ECI has sent the orders to the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh in this regard.

It may be noted that the ECI transferred DGP KV Rajendranath Reddy on Sunday after taking into consideration of several complaints made by NDA partners and others.

Now as per the ECI orders, Harish Gupta will take charge immediately by informing the Election Commission by 5 pm on Monday.
Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh government has submitted a panel of three IPS officers for the prestigious post of Director General of Police (DGP) after transferring DGP Rajendranath Reddy. T

he nominees, as per the seniority list, include Dwaraka Tirumala Rao (1990 batch), currently serving as the managing director of APSRTC, Madireddy Prathap (1991 batch), and Hareesh Kumar Guptha (1992 batch), who is presently holding the position of Home Secretary. Finally, the Election Commission of India appointed Harishkumar Gupta as DGP from the panel list.
