The grand Maha Kumbh Mela, held every twelve years at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, is set to commence on Monday. The event, considered one of the most significant religious gatherings for Hindus, attracts millions of devotees and international visitors. Among the notable attendees this year is Laurene Powell, the wife of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who has arrived in India to take part in the religious festivities and perform the holy bath.
On Saturday, Laurene Powell visited the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. She was accompanied by Swami Kailashanand Giri Ji Maharaj of Niranjani Akhada, who guided her through the temple visit and facilitated her participation in special rituals. Swami Kailashanand Giri stated that Powell has shown a keen interest in Hindu traditions and had specifically come to India to partake in the Maha Kumbh Mela.
During her visit, Powell prayed for the smooth and uninterrupted conduct of the Maha Kumbh Mela, seeking divine blessings from Lord Kashi Vishwanath. A video of Powell, dressed in traditional attire, offering prayers at the temple has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention.
Swami Kailashanand Giri also expressed gratitude for Powell’s devotion and respect for Indian religious traditions, emphasizing the significance of the event for both Indian and global devotees.
