Search operations in the landslide-affected areas of north Kerala district continued for the 10th day with more cadaver dogs being used to look for remains buried deep under the debris. Air Force helicopters were also deployed to drop special search teams into inaccessible areas along the Chaliyar river.

More rescuers, heavy machines, and K9 dog squads were deployed in the six zones of disaster-hit Chooralmala and Mundakkai.

As of Wednesday, around 138 people were suspected to be missing in the landslides, with more than 226 confirmed dead. Additionally, 192 body parts were recovered from the disaster-hit areas and the Chaliyar river as of August 7. The state government is also working on temporary rehabilitation for those affected by the landslides.

A cabinet sub-committee announced that the rehabilitation would be carried out in three phases, which include immediate temporary settlement, temporary transit homes, and a township project for complete rehabilitation. In addition to this, the government is working to restore identification and other documentation for people who lost everything in the landslides.
