On the sixth death anniversary of late DMK president and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, the state honored his memory on Wednesday. Chief Minister M K Stalin, Karunanidhi’s son, led a peaceful march of his party members to commemorate the Dravidian leader.
The march took place after paying respects to a portrait of Karunanidhi at the Omandurar Government Estate where a statue of him is installed. Stalin also paid floral tributes at Karunanidhi’s memorial at the Marina. Accompanying Stalin were his sister and Lok Sabha MP Kanimozhi, his son and state minister Udhayanidhi, as well as senior cabinet colleagues and party leaders. Many party leaders wore black and DMK workers raised slogans in honor of Karunanidhi.
Furthermore, Stalin paid floral tributes at the memorial of DMK founder and late chief minister CN Annadurai at the Marina. Karunanidhi, a five-time chief minister and a Dravidian stalwart who headed the party for nearly five decades until his passing in 2018, was remembered with respect and honor.
