Body of Indian IT Professional Recovered in Montana’s Glacier National Park After Tragic Drowning Incident

Last month, the body of a 26-year-old Indian IT professional who drowned in Glacier National Park in the US state of Montana was found by park rangers. Sidhant Vitthal Patil drowned on July 6 while hiking above a gorge on Avalanche Lake Trail after slipping off a large rock into Avalanche Creek.

A body was spotted by visitors around 10:30 am on Saturday, and rangers removed it. Clothing and gear similar to what Patil was wearing at the time of the incident were also recovered. The Flathead County coroner is working to confirm the identity through DNA or dental records.

The rangers suspected that the body was trapped underwater by submerged obstacles like fallen trees or rocks. They were initially limited in their search due to water depth and whitewater conditions, but as the water level dropped, they were able to search larger portions of the gorge. Patil, who was from Maharashtra and living and working in California, was on vacation with friends at the time of the incident.
