Amaravati: Mangalagiri Assembly is one of the important segments for the TDP as Nara Lokesh is in the election race as an MLA candidate. The election result is also a hot topic for Telugu people across the globe.

Former MLA Nara Lokesh faced a jolt in his maiden attempt in the last election. Presently he is contesting again to win from the same constituency seriously to prove his leadership.

In this way, the YSR Congress concentrated on the Mangalagiri Assembly segment. The YSR Congress dropped the former MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy this time though he was the winner in the last two elections continuously.

The YSR Congress strategically selected a woman candidate Murugudu Lavanaya from the weavers’ community. Her mother Kandru Kamala was a former MLA and her uncle Murugudu Hanumantha Rao was an ex-minister in the Congress party.

The town is popular for handloom and majority of people belong to the Padmashali community. The YSR Congress selected a woman from the weavers’ community.

On the other hand, Nara Lokesh is working hard to win from the Assembly segment by implementing various service activities. The weavers of Mangalagiri got an opportunity to supply their weaving products for TATA Taneria Company due to the efforts of Nara Lokesh. Now the weavers of town do not need to wait for anyone to sell the products.

The TATA Taneria will pay the amount to weavers directly as per rules and regulations promptly. It is a major advantage for the entire weavers community of the town. Nara Lokesh has plans to extend the programme to the entire State for the benefit of weavers. He has provided 300 jobs for the youth of Mangalagiri creating employment. He established a small-size software company with the cooperation of his friends.  

Besides, the TDP has already selected a woman leader Panchumarthi Anuradha from the same Padmashali community for the post of an MLC. The family of Nara Lokesh is giving utmost priority to her. She travelled along with Nara Bhuvaneswari as close aide during the entire Nijam Gelavali programme. The TDP showed its affiliation with the weavers’ community by selecting Panchumarthi Anuradaha for the MLC position. The TDP claims previously it has given a chance for Padmashali woman actress Sarada for Tenali Lok Sabha. She was elected once and had good relations with the Mangalagiri weavers’ community.

In this backdrop, the weavers are extending their support for Lokesh. In the last election also weavers of Mangalagiri cast their votes in favour of the TDP. As a result, the Lokesh got majority in the town.   

The TDP is criticising the YSR Congress for spending huge money against Nara Lokesh. One TDP activist alleged that the YSR Congress was spending Rs 5000 per each vote in the entire constituency. The TDP leadership pins hope on the majority of the Reddy community opposing the YSR Congress in Tadepalli mandal which is a core belt for the party prospects. The majority of people including Padmshali, Kapu and backward classes are supporting Nara Lokesh’s candidature.
