The Nagarjuna Sagar Dam in Nalgonda is experiencing flooding as more than 5 lakh cusecs of water from the Srisailam reservoir continues to flow into the dam. The current water storage is at 266.358 tmcs, nearing its capacity of 312.505 tmcs. The dam’s full water level is 590 feet, and it has currently reached 573.90 feet.
Authorities are preparing to open the dam gates due to the ongoing flood, with plans to start releasing about 2 lakh cusecs downstream by lifting the gates at 8 am on Monday. Initially, the crest gates will be partially lifted to facilitate the downward release of water.
