Vijayawada, March 28: In a scathing attack on Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu criticised the credibility of the Chief Minister, accusing him of seven major failures that have allegedly harmed the state across various sectors.
Addressing a large gathering in Rapthadu, Ananthapuram district, as part of the Prajagalam election campaign, Chandrababu Naidu outlined the shortcomings of the YSRCP government. He pointed out the failure to secure Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh, despite strong promises made by Jagan in the past. Naidu also criticized Jagan’s unfulfilled pledge to implement complete prohibition and eliminate liquor from the State, which he termed as a betrayal to the women of Andhra Pradesh. Instead, Naidu alleged that Jagan promoted duplicate liquor brands, resulting in significant health and financial losses to the public.
He also questioned the cancellation of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), a key promise made by Jagan to the state government employees during the previous election. Naidu highlighted the hardships faced by employees under the YSRCP government and questioned Jagan’s credibility in fulfilling his commitments.
The TDP leader further accused Jagan of betraying the state’s youth by failing to announce an annual job calendar and conduct the mega DSC (teachers’ recruitment exam) as promised. Naidu contrasted this with TDP’s assurance of providing job security to employees and creating 20 lakh jobs for the youth if voted to power.
Naidu also criticized Jagan’s handling of the Polavaram project and the failure to reduce electricity charges, which he claimed had significantly increased over the past five years, burdening families with additional expenses of around Rs 30,000 annually. Questioning Jagan’s claims of fulfilling 95% of election promises, Naidu called him a “cheater and betrayer” and urged voters to scrutinize Jagan’s track record closely.
Looking ahead, Naidu outlined his vision for the TDP government, promising to prioritise the welfare of the people. He pledged to bring Godavari water to Rayalaseema by completing the Polavaram irrigation project, a move he believes would foster statewide development, particularly in Rayalaseema. Naidu also highlighted TDP’s track record in promoting development, contrasting it with what he described as the YSRCP government’s hindrance to progress, citing instances of private companies pulling out of the state due to alleged corruption and hooliganism among YSRCP leaders.
