Indian women’s shooter Manu Bhaker made history at the Paris Olympics by becoming the first Indian athlete to win two medals in a single Olympics. She initially secured a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol category and then went on to win another bronze medal in the team event with Sarabjot Singh.

This remarkable achievement has been celebrated throughout the nation, with congratulations pouring in from celebrities, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Manu Bhaker has now qualified for all three events at the Paris Olympics and has set her sights on winning a hat-trick of medals.

She is scheduled to compete in the 25m air pistol shooting event on August 2 at 12:30 PM. With her strong performance, Manu is considered a top contender to secure a medal in this event as well.

If successful, it would be a momentous victory for India. Manu Bhaker’s initial victory on July 28 marked India’s first medal in the Olympics, and her subsequent success in the 10m air pistol team event solidified her status as the first Indian woman athlete to win a shooting event medal at the Olympics.

By winning two medals in a single edition of the Olympics, Manu has achieved a feat previously only reached by wrestlers Sushil Kumar and badminton player PV Sindhu, albeit in different editions of the games. Sushil Kumar won bronze in 2008 and silver in 2012, while PV Sindhu secured silver in 2016 and bronze in 2021.
