Senior leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao is considering rejoining the Congress party. Rao was the former state Congress president in undivided Andhra Pradesh. He confirmed to PTI on Thursday that he is thinking of returning to Congress and will share the details later.
Keshav Rao’s daughter, Vijaya Laxmi R Gadwal, who is the Mayor of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), is also likely to join the Congress on March 30. However, Keshav Rao’s son, K Viplav Kumar, denied any involvement in the news in media about the decisions of Keshav Rao or Vijaya Laxmi on their thoughts about changing the party.
He also stated his strong support for the BRS and its leader, KCR garu, adding that he will be able to talk more only after the confirmation of Keshav Rao and Vijaya Laxmi joining the Congress.
The BRS, led by former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, has seen several leaders quitting the party in recent weeks following its defeat in the 2023 Assembly polls. While BRS MLA Danam Nagender joined the Congress, two party MPs B B Patil and P Ramulu switched over to the BJP.
