Rupee Opened Flat – US Currency

The Indian rupee started the day at 83.73 against the US dollar, with the dollar holding steady in international markets. The rupee remained stable, trading at 83.73 to 83.74 in early trading due to decreased crude oil prices providing support, although a strong dollar overseas limited the gains for the Indian currency.

Additionally, month-end demand for the dollar and foreign exchange outflows constrained the rupee within a narrow range. By 9:45 am, the rupee was still at 83.73 against the US dollar. In domestic stock markets, the 30-share BSE Sensex increased by 67 points to 81,423.53, and the Nifty rose by 25 points to 24,861.35 early on Tuesday.

The Sensex had previously risen by 23.12 points, or 0.03 percent, to close at 81,355.84 points on Monday. The dollar index, measuring the strength of the US dollar against a basket of six currencies, stood at 104.6070, showing a slight increase of 0.04 percent.

Meanwhile, Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, fell by 0.41 percent to USD 79.45 per barrel. In the capital markets on Monday, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 2,474.54 crore, according to exchange data.
