Vijayawada: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) senior leader Varla Ramaiah has raised concerns over the absence of proper arrangements for postal ballot voting, particularly for government employees on election duty. In a letter addressed to the Election Commission, Ramaiah highlighted the negligence in distributing postal ballot forms and the absence of an awareness programme regarding postal ballot utilisation.
He said that the election commission had previously issued clear instructions to the district election officials, directing them to appoint nodal officers, issue Form-12 for postal ballots, and accept completed forms from eligible employees. These nodal officers were tasked with coordinating arrangements for applying postal ballot applications. Despite these directives, a few ROs have released Form-12 thus far, indicating a significant delay in the process, he said.
