BJP State president and Rajamahendravaram MP D Purandeshwari, affirmed the NDA government’s commitment to supporting farmers, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the State government led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the Central government. Addressing the media, Purandeshwari emphasized that the dual governance by the NDA at both the State and Central levels is aimed at bolstering agricultural support systems for the farmers.
“A comprehensive plan is being prepared to find a permanent solution to the issues plaguing the farmers,” Purandeshwari said. She commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing farmer-centric schemes such as the Fasal Bima Yojana and the Kisan Samman Nidhi, aimed at doubling farmers’ income and providing financial security.
Highlighting the specific challenges faced by farmers in the region, Purandeshwari noted the critical need to modernize the red canals, including the Erra canal, Kovwada canal, and Tadipudi canal.
“Farmers are suffering due to the outdated canal systems,” she said, adding that efforts are underway to secure central funds for the necessary upgrades. “We are looking for a permanent solution to prevent the recurring issues caused by these canals,” she emphasized.
Purandeshwari also addressed the impact of recent cyclones on agriculture, revealing that the current season has seen 2300 acres inundated due to heavy rains. “Every year, farmers lose around 5000 acres due to cyclones,” she remarked, assuring that officials are diligently assessing the crop damage to provide timely relief and support. “We are committed to ensuring that farmers do not suffer and that their livelihoods are protected,” she said
