IndiGo will be introducing business class seats on 12 domestic routes starting from November 14. The airline is also set to launch a customer loyalty programme as it embarks on ambitious expansion plans. CEO Pieter Elbers announced the introduction of business class seats at an event marking the airline’s 18th anniversary.
Business class seats will be available for booking from August 6, with passengers being offered specially curated meals. The business class configuration will consist of 12 seats, arranged as 4 seats in 3 rows in the A321 neo planes, alongside 220 seats in total — 208 in the economy class.
The business class seats will be rolled out on select flights from November 14, and the initial one-way fare will start at Rs 18,018. Initially, the business class seats will be available on the busiest and business-oriented routes, beginning with Delhi-Mumbai flights.
This move comes as Tata Group-owned Air India, Air India Express, and Vistara already offer business class seats. Moreover, IndiGo will be introducing its customer loyalty programme, ‘IndiGo BluChip’, which is set to go live in September. As part of its expansion plans, the airline will also be launching flights to seven additional international destinations within the current fiscal year, ending on March 31, 2025.
