Vijayawada, May 15: The electoral fervor in Andhra Pradesh reached new heights as Darshi constituency emerged with the highest polling percentage of 90.91 per cent, showcasing an enthusiastic participation of voters in the democratic process. In contrast, Tirupati constituency recorded the lowest polling at 63.32 per cent.

The chief electoral officer, Mukesh Kumar Meena, unveiled comprehensive details regarding the elections conducted in Andhra Pradesh on May 13, highlighting a historic voter turnout of 81.66 per cent, a significant milestone for the state’s electoral history.

In a detailed breakdown, Ongole stood out among Lok Sabha constituencies with the highest polling at 87.06 per cent, while Visakhapatnam (Visakha) reported the lowest at 71.11 per cent.

CEO Meena emphasized that the state witnessed an overall polling percentage of 81.86 per cent, with 80.66 per cent recorded through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and an additional 1.2 per cent through postal ballots. This marked a notable increase of 2.09 per cent compared to the previous election cycles, reflecting the growing engagement of voters.

Meena clarified that polling continued even after 6 pm at 3500 centers, with the last polling center completing its operations at 2 in the morning. Despite logistical challenges, including delays due to rainfall in certain areas, the electoral process proceeded smoothly, culminating in this significant voter turnout.
