Telangana presents budget of Rs 2.91 lakh cr for 2024-25

On Thursday, the Telangana government presented a budget of Rs 2.91 lakh crore, with total revenue of Rs 2.21 lakh crore and capital expenditures of Rs 33,487 crore. The total estimated revenues were Rs 2,90,814 crore, including Open Market Loans of over Rs 57,000 crore.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who is in charge of the Finance portfolio, presented the Budget in the Assembly.

The state government proposed to allocate Rs 72,659 crores to agriculture, Rs. 21,292 crores for the Education department, and Rs. 22,301 crores for Irrigation.

Additionally, Rs. 29,816 crores were proposed for Panchayath Raj and Rural Development. Bhatti mentioned that Telangana’s debt has reached Rs 6.71 lakh crore.

He pointed out that in the last 10 years, the state government’s debt has increased tenfold without corresponding development.

Since the congress government took over, Rs 35,118 crore in debt was raised while loans worth Rs 42.892 crore, both principal and interest, were repaid.
