New Delhi: April 16: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest software exporter, intends to continue hiring a similar number of freshers in the fiscal year 2025 as it did in the previous year, which was approximately 40,000. This announcement comes amidst TCS posting three consecutive quarters of headcount decline, with FY24 marking the first full-year decline in headcount since its listing 19 years ago, with a decrease of 13,249 employees.
CEO and MD K Krithivasan elaborated on the disparity between slowing headcount and steady revenue growth, attributing it to the training period new recruits undergo before becoming productive and billable. He mentioned that TCS deploys trainees through internal training mechanisms, and after 6 to 8 months, they become productive contributors.
Krithivasan confirmed that in FY25, TCS plans to hire a similar number of freshers as in the previous year, aiming at maintaining a steady influx of new talent. Regarding the hiring of experienced professionals, he stated that decisions will be made every quarter depending on immediate demand and business requirements.
