Defending champions India will look to clinch their eighth title in the Women’s Asia Cup as they face Sri Lanka in the final on Sunday. India has dominated the tournament, defeating Pakistan, UAE, Nepal, and Bangladesh with ease. The Indian team has been bolstered by strong performances from their top-order batters and bowlers.
Openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma have provided excellent starts, while bowlers Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh have been in great form, with Deepti leading the wicket-taking charts.
The team will be hoping for continued success from their star players such as Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues, who have had limited time in the middle so far. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka, also undefeated in the tournament, will rely heavily on captain Chamari Athapaththu, who is the leading run-scorer in the competition.
However, apart from Athapaththu, Sri Lanka’s batting line-up has not been as prolific, and their bowlers, except for off-spinner Kavisha Dilhari, have struggled to make an impact.
The match will be a showdown between the dominant Indian team and the resilient Sri Lankans, and it promises to be an exciting contest.
