“Harmony in Legacy: Amitabh Bachchan Receives Lata Deena Nath Mangeshkar Award”

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was awarded the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award on Wednesday. The award was instituted in memory of Lata Mangeshkar, the eldest of the five Mangeshkar siblings, who passed away in 2022 due to multiple organ failure. The award was presented to Bachchan on April 24, the memorial day of Deenanath Mangeshkar, the father of the Mangeshkar siblings and a veteran of theatre and music. Bachchan, who has been a prominent figure in Indian cinema for over five decades, has acted in numerous films including “Zanjeer”, “Deewar”, “Chupke Chupke”, “Mohabbatein”, and “Piku”. In his acceptance speech, he expressed his gratitude for receiving the award and apologized for not being able to attend the ceremony last year due to health reasons. The Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar, as the award is known, is given every year to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the nation, its people and society. The first recipient of the award was Prime Minister Narendra Modi, followed by Asha Bhosle in 2023. This year, singer Usha Mangeshkar, the third eldest Mangeshkar sibling, presented the award to Bachchan. The event was presided over by music composer Hridaynath Mangeshkar, the youngest Mangeshkar sibling.
