Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development minister Ponguru Narayana has announced that the first phase of the Amaravati capital construction will be completed within the next two and a half years, adhering to the original master plan.
Narayana assumed office as the Minister of Municipal and Urban Development at the State Secretariat at Velagapudi in Amaravati, on Sunday. Emphasising the government’s commitment, he stated, “Our primary goal is to expedite the construction of Amaravati capital, aiming at positioning it among the top five capitals in the world.” Particularly, 32,000 acres were acquired from farmers without any legal disputes, he added. The minister criticised the previous government for neglecting the capital and attempting to divide it into three separate capitals. He reiterated the current government’s resolve, stating, “We will complete the construction of the capital in two and a half years, adhering strictly to the original master plan.” Upon his arrival at the secretariat, Narayana received a warm welcome from the officials, the TDP leaders, farmers, and JAC leaders. He assured them that justice would prevail by resolving ongoing legal issues surrounding Amaravati. After reviewing the progress with authorities, he plans to commence the work.
