PN Srinivasa Rao (Bureau Chief The Capital News)
It is common point in the speeches. Youth is future of the country. This quote usually uses the leaders of political parties and also administrators of governments in their meetings. This slogan is exactly matching the politics of Andhra Pradesh in the forthcoming elections.
Everyone knows that the Andhra Pradesh state is going to witness elections as part of general elections for both Assembly and Parliament which are expected to be held in April. The political parties especially Telugu Desam and YSR Congress are readying to participate in the elections. Already both the parties announcing the candidates and conducting public meetings across the state. Now the leaderships of the parties are making plans to attract the voters by focussing on the people of various sectors separately.
Now the political pundits and experts opine that the youth sector will decide the fate of the political parties in the next elections. As per the voters data, nearly 1.5 crore voters are youth in the total voters strength of five crore. The youth strength is almost one third in the total voters’ strength.
The voters’ data reveals that the youth voters are going to be decided the winning chances of political parties in the elections.
As per the data of 2022 466839 voters are belong to ages between 18 to 20. The voters aging between 21-25 number is almost 35 lakhs. Similarly voters 26 to 30 strength is 45 lakhs. The voters age from 31 to 35 is nearly 55 lakhs. As per the voters list one crore 50 lakhs (1.50 crore) are youth from age groups between 18-35.
In this backdrop, the main political parties YSR Congress, Telugu Desam and Jana Sena parties have focused to gain the attention of youth. Telugu Desam general secretary Nara Lokesh conducted paadayatra almost 3600 kilometers in the name of Yuva Galam on youth voice. TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu has also announced 20 lakh jobs for youth if comes to power in the forthcoming elections. He also announced siphoned to unemployed youth. Already TDP started empower center in its political party office in Managalagiri with the support of NRI TDP wing. It is already giving training to unemployed youth and and providing jobs in the unemployed state. Meanwhile its political partner Jana Sena has also started conducting youth meetings. On the other hand, ruling YSR Congress which has bagged majority youth support in the last elections (2019) is facing criticism. The state government has failed to announce job calendar which is one of the promises of the YSR Congress party. As per the reports, the youth of the state has lost their confidence on government due to it has failed to construct capital city in anywhere of the state. The state government could not succeeded to show the development and employment opportunities to the youth during the last five years. Moreover several companies which have entered an MOUs with the state government during the TDP regime cancelled their proposals. In this backdrop, the YSR Congress may not get the support of youth. On the other hand, the TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu has good reputation among the voters as he can do development and provide employment. Nara Lokesh and his speeches by targeting youth are attracting after yuvagalam. Pawan Kalyan has also a sizable youth vote especially in the masses. The whole situation definitely will be a big advantage to Telugu Desam and Jana Sean alliance in the forthcoming elections.
